Companions in Hope

Companions in Hope is a care ministry for those affected by chronic disease such as cancer, heart disease, COPD, etc - for both patients and caregivers. We currently have 12 trained care ministers to provide Christ's love, help, hope, care, encouragement and support to those dealing with chronic disease. The heart of the care minister is to seek and understand the story of the suffering person and to encourage hope in the promise of the Gospel for that person. Our intent is that a care minister provide practical help and be the listening ear that person needs.

If you or someone you know is a patient or caregiver and would like some additional support, or if you would be interested in participating in a future training, please contact Pastor Rick (rick@kingofkingsok.org) or 918-291-2005.

Good Samaritan Health Services

Good Samaritan This is a charitable nonprofit organization that provides free medical care through the use of two medical units. Patients receive a doctor's consultation, lab work, medicines, education, specialty care (if needed), and follow-up care for free. GSHS partners with churches which provide caring volunteers and their ministries of compassion for patients.

The mobile clinic comes to Glenpool first and third Fridays of each month at Extreme Worship (S Birch & 147th St). Contact the church office if you would like to help with this service.

Care Ministry

King of Kings provides meals, assistance and other care to families with new babies or illnesses. Please notify the church office if you need some assistance or if you would like to be involved in this ministry.

Fix-It Ministry

Fixit Team

The Fix-It Ministry has the goal to provide assistance with repairs, maintenance and yard-word to those who are unable to do them.

Teams have gone to several homes of sick and elderly people in the Glenpool area to clean up the yards, trim trees and bushes, repair roofs, repair fencing and do other necessary maintenance. They have also responded with assistance to families that were burned out in local wild fires.

The Fix-It Ministry has also provided services to the church by expanding the sanctuary and installing a new cross in front of the building. Contact the church office if you need assistance or wish to serve with the Fix-It Ministry.

Spring Market

Spring Market

The Glenpool Spring Market, sponsored by King of Kings Lutheran Church, has featured artisans of hand-crafted items and independent home-based businesses from all over Tulsa and the surrounding areas. Visitors to the Spring Market have enjoyed shopping for handmade craft items, candles, gifts, jewelry, home-baked goods, and much more. All net proceeds, supplemented by Thrivent Financial, were used to support local, national, and international missions.

Multi-cultural Outreach VBS

The Multi-cultural Outreach VBS is held each summer at a Tulsa apartment complex. This is hosted with the other Missouri Synod Lutheran churches in the area. Burmese, Hispanic and other children participate in music, Bible lessons, activities and crafts. If you wish to assist in this free event, contact Nikki@kingofkingsok.org.

Where the Spirit Leads

A group of King of Kings teens and their leaders ventured out in 2009 to do mission work. They began each day with prayer to determine where the Spirit wanted them, then drove in that direction to find what was in store. They covered several cities in Oklahoma and Kansas, helping people as the needs arose and making friends. Ask a youth to tell you about their experience.

Botswana Ministry

The King of Kings congregation continue to provide financial support and prayers for our missionary in Botswana. Work in Botswana is comprised of translating the Bible to their native language, something that does not exist today.

Growing God's Garden

In the summer of 2013 we presented to the public a seminar on how to grow container gardens in this area. Container gardens were provided at no cost to families or facilities that were interested. Teams went and planted a small wading pool garden for each family so that they could grow their own healthy vegetables.

Honduras Mission trip

Honduras Mission Team

A team of 16 people from King of Kings traveled to Honduras in June, 2011 to minister to people of Honduras. The team went to serve in the area of San Pedro Sula, Honduras. They collected and took with them monetary donations as well as clothing and medical supplies to be used in the village and an orphanage.

While in Honduras, they conducted a Medical and Dental Clinic, held Vacation Bible School, visited the orphanage, and helped build a high school for a small village.

Guatemala Mission trips

King of Kings has made 2 trips to Guatemala to serve. The last one was in June, 2008, when seventeen people from King of Kings and other area churches traveled to Guatemala to minister to people who live in and around the Guatemala City garbage dump and other outlying towns. They took with them monetary donations and supplies to be used by the Servant's Heart Ministry. While serving, the team provided a medical clinic, Vacation Bible School, English lessons, and did home visits.

Mid-Week Momentum

We meet on occasional evenings to provide a spiritual boost. The activity may include Game Night, Fix-It work, Bible Study, or a Mystery Night. We generally share a pot-luck dinner first, then continue with the evening's activity.

Game night may consist of games such as Bunco, cards or bowling. On a Fix-It service night, service may be given to a member, anyone needing assistance in the Glenpool community, or may just be maintenance on the church. Bible study night may cover current events or other topics of interest. Mystery night can be anything from a scavenger hunt or going to another location - anything goes!

This is multi-generational activity, joining children through grandparents.

Lift High the Cross Balloon Ministry

Lift High the Cross

America's only hot air balloon ministry, piloted by a Lutheran Pastor and his family, came to Glenpool, OK in 2008. The centerpiece of the Lift High the Cross (LHTC) ministry is a spectacular 8-story tall hot air balloon with two 40-foot tall cross logo on it.

The Rev. Jay Mason, is a 24-year veteran balloon pilot. The balloon ministry "got off the ground" in March of 1998 and has been flying high ever since. His wife, Vicki, also a balloon pilot, and their 2 boys had toured through 42 states in seven years. The Masons are the only U.S. family doing this type of ministry.

Forty volunteer crew members from King of Kings and the Glenpool area helped with balloon launches and the ministry. Pastor Mason says this is a wonderful way to send the Gospel message without wearing out your knuckles knocking on doors.

Nursing Home Ministry

Members visit regularly with the elderly living in the nursing home in Glenpool. Weekly Bible lessons are conducted for the residents as well as encouragement, both spiritual and emotional.

Focused Prayer Outreach

Focused Prayer The members of King of Kings have joined for 40 days of focused prayer. Following a prescription for prayer, they prayed daily focusing their prayer on an individual or group needing Christ. It is enlightening and exciting to see the results and power of this prayer, as well as the joy received.
